FAQ's
How long does a treatment take?
Around one hour is all that is needed to achieve maximum results.
What Results Can I Expect?
Teeth Whitening can achieve fantastic results of 5 to 14 shades whiter. This can be achieved on teeth whitening the enamel is in good condition and you have not had a teeth whitening treatment for 12 months. Results may be less if you use home whitening products or have had an in-chair treatment within a year.
How long will the results last?
Teeth whitening will last for up to a year but to maintain your smile you may like to have a treatment every 3-4 months. Re-staining depends largely on diet and lifestyle. Smoking, coffee, tea, fruit juice, sodas all staining foods and beverages will eventually re-stain the surface of your teeth.
Who shouldn't have a teeth whitening treatment?
Teeth whitening is a treatment most people want and can have, however, it is not recommended for children under 16 years of age or for women who are pregnant or breastfeeding. Do not have a teeth whitening treatment if you have gum disease or are requiring dental work.
Is teeth whitening safe?
Teeth whitening is purely cosmetic and non dental. Our in-chair system is safe, gentle and highly effective. The treatment is safer on your enamel safer than charcoal and most home whitening.
What are the risks?
The two side effects that occur most often with teeth whitening are a temporary increase in tooth sensitivity and mild irritation of the soft tissues of the mouth, particularly the gums. Tooth sensitivity often occurs during early stages of the bleaching treatment. Both of these conditions usually are temporary and disappear within 1 to 3 days. if you have sensitive teeth we recommend using a toothpaste like Sensodyne for 3 days before and after the treatment.
Before your appointmentÂ
Brushing your Teeth
Brush your teeth at least 1 hour before their appointment. Once you have brushed your teeth please consume only water before the treatment. When many people brush their teeth many make their gums bleed leaving an open wound in the mouth. Where this is the case the client may experience a stinging or burning sensation when the gel is applied. Brushing at least 1 hour prior to the treatment will ensure any gum irritation has had time to subside.
After your appointment
It is recommended you have a white diet for 1-3 days after the teeth whitening treatment. (We will explain more about this in aftercare.) It is best to book the teeth whitening treatment for a time when you are not likely to have a social event for at least 24 hours but preferably 3 days. This will ensure it is easier for you to stick to the white diet and keep your smile looking great.
